Robinson Crothers
Financial Advisor and Managing Partner at Great South Bay Advisors
Robinson Crothers is a Financial Advisor and Managing Partner at Great South Bay Advisors, a family-run wealth management firm based in Holbrook, New York. He has over 10 years of experience working alongside his father and concentrates on developing and overseeing portfolios aligned with client objectives. He earned a Finance degree from the Mario Gabelli School of Business at Roger Williams University, where he also competed on the university’s wrestling team.
Early Life and Education
Robinson was born and raised in Patchogue, New York, on Long Island. His father had an established background in financial advisory services, and he has spent nearly a decade working with him. Through this experience, he gained practical knowledge in portfolio construction, client communication, and long-term Financial Planning.
Robinson attended the Mario Gabelli School of Business at Roger Williams University and completed his degree in Finance. During his time there, he was a member of the university’s wrestling team, balancing academic and athletic responsibilities.
Early Career and Family Business
After graduation, he worked as a Consultant in the Institutional Investment space. In that role, he collaborated with Pensions, Endowments, and Family Offices to design portfolios that included Private Equity, Hedge Funds, and other Alternative Investments. He later joined his father in the family-run advisory firm, beginning nearly 10 years of direct involvement in managing client portfolios.
The firm reflects more than 50 years of combined family experience. It originally operated as American Portfolios and was rebranded as Great South Bay Advisors in January 2025 under their leadership.
Areas of Expertise
Robinson's work focuses on financial planning, retirement income strategies, and long-term investment management. As a fiduciary, he adheres to a client-first standard and guides without conflicts of interest or pressure to sell proprietary products.
A central element of his approach is managing return sequence risk, particularly for retirees who rely on consistent income. By balancing equities and fixed-income investments, he seeks to reduce the impact of market volatility and limit the risk of portfolio depletion.
In equity allocation, he evaluates dividend-paying stocks alongside growth-oriented companies. His strategy integrates value and growth considerations while emphasizing risk-adjusted returns and capital preservation during market downturns.

Investment Strategy and Market Perspective
Robinson's market perspective is grounded in research and long-term economic trends. He works to achieve strong real returns across full market cycles while aligning portfolios with each client’s risk tolerance and objectives.
He incorporates fixed-income and municipal bonds into taxable accounts. He has shifted equity exposure toward value stocks and dividend-paying companies to pursue improved risk-adjusted returns in the current environment.
Robinson follows themes such as industrial innovation, semiconductor equipment, energy production and storage, defense spending, and the expansion of the global middle class. He also recognizes opportunities in International Markets, particularly in developed economies across Europe and the Pacific region.
